You Had Me at Hello

Sometimes you just know when you've found the one.  In this case, I knew this custom reclaimed pine coffee table was perfect for me and my living room.  I found this amazing table during my Saturday shopping spree... It was at my first stop, the Recycle Boutique.  And I have to be honest, I had seen it from afar the week before.  One night after the store had closed, I was in the area running errands so I just randomly peeked into the window and there it was.... well, hello.

I thought for sure it would be too expensive, so I didn't want to get my hopes up, yet the entire week I couldn't stop thinking about how great it would look.  It had lots of storage with those 3 large drawers, simple lines, a cottage feel, and the pine wood matched the look of the table behind my couch.  Plus the large size (60" x 30") was just what I needed to fill up my living area.

So, when I got to the store on Saturday and found out that the price was reasonable (much less than it would be in Pottery Barn), I was super excited and couldn't pass it up.  I am so happy I went for it and think it has really stepped up the look of the entire living area.  It is a really well-made, solid piece of furniture and the coolest thing is that the huge drawers actually go in and out on both sides.

The only thing I am debating on is whether or not to switch the hardware out... the gold handles are kind of growing on me, but I think it might look even better with some white ceramic or crystal pulls, maybe like these (click here).  What do you think?

I also found a couple other smaller items at Recyle Boutique that I couldn't resist.  The shabby chic white tray that you see on top of the coffee table and an amazing glass lamp that is hidden in the back of the big picture above.  Here are some close-ups of them:

Well, it's been a long weekend of shopping and home design.  I also had a fun time walking around Sleepy Poet and have lots of pics to share with you from that stop.  After that, I ended up helping my sister fix up her place by adding some curtains and rearranging furniture a bit.... I'll share a couple pics of that later this week.  For now though, it's time to get some rest.  Baxter is already snoring...

Spring, where are you?

I am seriously ready for spring time!!!  It has been a brutal winter here in the Queen City, I think it's snowed like 18 times... ok, maybe only 3 times, but still.  Normally we just get one light snow every year that shuts down the city, makes everything look beautiful, and all the kids go sledding.  But, man, this year has been so much snow and rain and wind, I feel like we live up north, brrrrr....

So what do I do when its cold?  I could be accomplishing all kinds of things on my never ending to-do list like organizing my files, cleaning out my closet, or dusting... blah!    Intsead, I use the cold as a great excuse to go shopping!  So, my plan on Saturday is to do a loop around CLT checking out my favorite furniture and home decor shops from Sleepy Poet to TJ Maxx (the one at Concord Mills, since its the best).  I might even get up early and brave the cold to see if I can find any good yard sales.  But the thing I'm most excited about is to go to my new favorite spot - Recycle Boutique.  This place just makes me giddy... it's a consignment shop that sells everything from antique furniture to designer jeans - talk about heaven!

Alrighty, time for me to take some measurements and get my wish list ready!

Is it really almost March?!?

Oh my gosh, time has flown by these past few months! I can't believe I haven't posted anything in so long (ok, maybe I can, I am pretty lazy sometimes!) Oh well, I blame it all on my fabulous trip to Southern California to visit my extended family over Thanksgiving. Since then, I seem to have come down with a case of blogger's block.  So, in hopes of getting my groove back, I thought I'd share with you all what a beautiful Thanksgiving table my Aunt setup at her home in Carlsbad, CA. She kept it simple with a neutral table cloth and napkins, flowers, some pumpkins and squash, and bright blue glasses for a pop of color.  The hilltop view and sunny skies complete the look :)
